Another Maldivian pilgrim died Tuesday night while on her Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
The deceased was Jameela Mohamed, 51, (of Kandufinige, R. Hulhudhuffaaru). She died Tuesday night while being treated at King Faisal Hospital in Mecca.
She attended the Hajj pilgrimage under the sponsorship of Acro Hajj Group Pvt. Ltd.
The incident occurred about a day after the death of Abdulla Nasir, 57, (of Aaraamuge, Dhoodigan, Fuvahmulah). According to the media official from the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, he suffered a heart attack and died in ICU at a hospital in Mina.
President of the Maldives Hajj Mission, Ali Shareef, said that the funeral prayer for the deceased was held at the holy site Tuesday afternoon.
Meanwhile, another Maldivian pilgrim -- a man traveling with the state-owned Hajj Corporation -- is undergoing treatment at the King Faisal Hospital’s ICU. According to doctors, the pilgrim had been in treatment in the hospital for a week along with the recently deceased pilgrim, and added that his health condition is still serious.
All three pilgrims mentioned had prayed and supplicated on Mount Arafat, the most important ritual of the pilgrimage. They were taken to the mountain with the assistance from the Saudi government.
While 2,000 Maldivians have journeyed to the holy land this year, the Maldives Hajj Mission informed that everyone is generally in good health.
