Former national team captain and New Radiant assistant coach Thoddoo Mohamed Nizam has been appointed as the coach for Valencia Youth Team. Valencia Youth Team is last year's champion of Football Association of Maldives (FAM) Youth Championship Tournament.
Many teams taking part in the tournament have already started practice sessions for the tournament scheduled to start on January 25th with 14 teams taking part in this year's season. This tournament has been held from 2011 with the assistance of Japan Football Association.
Valencia, BG Sports, New Radiant, Maziya, Eagles, AYL, Victory, Mahibadhoo Sports Club, Green Street, Eydhafushi, Vaikaradhoo, Veyru Sports Club, Kelaa Naalhi and Vilimaale' United are competing in the tournament this time.
Valencia won the championship after beating BG sports in the final.
