National Center for the Arts (NCA) has decided to schedule the long-awaited National Film Award to be held on October 22.
The award ceremony - which had stumbled upon a 6-year break until now - is held to encourage and acknowledge the Maldivian film releases, as well as the performers; and it also plays the purpose of establishing a friendly - yet competitive - atmosphere to further develop and maintain their skills.
NCA says that, during the upcoming ceremony, awards are to be given to the films that were released between 2008 and 2010, and will include short films, feature films and even documentaries.
Nominations for the awards will be announced on October 17.
