Close to hundred Maldivian Girl Guides attend regional camps

Close to a hundred Maldivian Girl Guides have taken part in jamborees and camps organized by various regional Girl Guide associations.
Education ministry said the Girl Guides attended “Centenary Camp 2016” organized by Girl Guide Association of Malaysia, and “Everything is possible Jamboree 2016” in Thailand, and that they will attend “Hong Kong Girl Guides Centenary International Camp 2016” as well as “National Jamboree of Bharat Scouts & Guides” to be held in India.
Ten Girl Guides from two schools of Male’ and the atolls took part in the camp in Malaysia, which was held from November 28 to December 1, while sixty Girl Guides from fifteen schools, along with five Guide leader, attended the Thailand jamboree, held from December 14 to 21.
In addition fifteen Girl Guides from six schools will attend the camp in Hong Kong, to be held from December 23 to 27. The National Jamboree of Bharat Scouts & Guides will be held in Mysore, India, from December 29 to January 4, and will be attended by seven Maldivian Girl Guides from four schools.
According to the education ministry, allowing students to participate in such overseas events will expose them to different environments and cultures, and give them exposure and experience.
