Delay is completing the new jogging track in Male’ is caused by bad weather, says Wisteria Singapore Pte. Ltd.
The contractor issued a statement on Monday, following complaints about the quality of the track and claims that it is getting destroyed even before completion.
According to the statement, the track is being established after necessary studies, by taking into account how such work should be carried out in the Maldives and by giving priority to use high quality material.
“The jogging track’s concrete slab was built in accordance with the design and measurements given by the company that produced the synthetic rubber used on the track. The slab will be 5 inches thick as per the requirement. And concrete (slab) is made up of 4-meter blocks to make it last long and for easy maintenance,” the company said. The statement further said that synthetic rubber used, is the best material used on international running tracks and that it is a material that can be replaced whenever required.
“The only reason for the delay in finishing the work is lack of dry conditions required for the installment of track’s finishing material due to ongoing bad weather.”
