Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) denied rumors saying that the its leader and former President President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom was secretly meeting with officials from opposition parties in Singapore.
A statement released by PPM, denying the rumors on social media as well as some online news outlets, says that the rumors are clearly false, and that it was a ruse to create conflict within PPM.
The statement says that the party members can assure that the PPM president would not meet with the opposition parties.
The statement also says that if Maumoon was meeting with the opposition, then he would have announced it via his twitter account.
Maumoon is currently in Singapore.
