A 21-year-old Maldivian has died in Sri Lanka on Saturday, after being hit by a train.
The young man has been identified as Izuham Mohamed (Bahaaru, GDh. Madaveli).
According to Madaveli island council, after attending high school in the island, he moved to capital Male’ for higher studies.
A Maldivian living in Sri Lanka told VNews that Izuham’s body was crushed and pieces of the body had been splattered to the surrounding area, as the train had run over him.
A video taken post the accident is circulating on social media. It shows the body covered with a white cloth and Sri Lankan police active in the area.
According to a resident of Madaveli, Izuham went to Sri Lanka on Thursday with some friends and that that he was an undergraduate student at the Maldives National University (MNU), studying law. The resident revealed that he was in his final semester.
