President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed embarked on a one-day official visit to Dhuvaafaru in Raa Atoll, a trip designed to advance the administration’s regional development agenda while marking significant national observances.
During the visit, President Muizzu is scheduled to inaugurate the practical phases of several development projects and preside over ceremonies commemorating the completion of key infrastructure initiatives. These engagements reflect the government’s continued emphasis on delivering tangible progress in local development and strengthening essential services across the islands.
The trip also coincides with the commemoration of this year’s Fishermen’s Day, observed annually on 10 December. The president will attend the official function and participate in activities organised in Dhuvaafaru, reaffirming the central role of the fisheries sector in sustaining the island’s economy and shaping the nation’s identity.
Accompanying the president and first lady is a delegation of senior officials, including cabinet ministers and the heads of government institutions.
