Kulhudhuffushi City’s Saturday Market Begins Operations After First Phase of Development

The Kulhudhuffushi City Council today began using the city’s Saturday Market after the completion of the first phase of its development project.
The Kulhudhuffushi City Council announced on the 8th of this month that the first phase of work on the Saturday Market area had been completed and opened for use.
Accordingly, the market began operations today, the first Saturday following that announcement. As is customary, a large number of people gathered at the Saturday Market today as well.
As Kulhudhuffushi City is the main hub of the North, it is the city where commercial and economic activities from the North take place on the widest scale. Generally, Saturday is the day when a large number of people from the three northernmost atolls and some other northern islands visit the city. This is for the purpose of seeking health services, trade, and other services.
People from these visiting islands bring goods and sell them at the Saturday Market. This market offers food items produced in many northern islands, a large variety of agricultural products, and various other goods.
The Kulhudhuffushi City Council has modernized the area where the market operates without losing its original character. Therefore, both the users of the market and those seeking services have been provided with greater convenience than before.
