State Owned Maldives Water and Sewerage Company Limited (MWSC) has announced the decision to waive the penalties and fines levied on water bills.
MWSC said that as part of its efforts to provide concessions for customers, another programme will be conducted to waive the fines and penalties of households and businesses who have long overdue water bills.
Under this programme, penalties and fines of MWSC’s domestic customers and commercial tariff customers will be waived up to 31 December 2024. However, the concession will be made available to customers who pay the total amount of the bills between 1 May and 31 December 2025 in full, it said.
In addition, the arrangement will be made for customers who wish to pay their bills in monthly installments under an agreement. However, customers who pay in monthly installments will receive the penalty waiver as long as they honour the installment agreement, MWSC added.
MWSC has urged the public to take advantage of this opportunity to settle their outstanding and continue to pay their bills regularly.
