President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna have concluded their unofficial visit to Sri Lanka. They left for the neighbouring country on December 30 and returned to the Maldives after four days.
President Solih previously took an official trip to Sri Lanka in November, during which he officiated the opening ceremony of the Mahinda Rajapaksa Trophy 2021 football tournament. During the trip, the president attended the official luncheon hosted by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and conversed with him on topics of mutual interest. He also met with President of Sri Lanka Gotabaya Rajapaksa, and held an extensive discussion on a wide array of subjects of mutual interest, and reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening cooperation between the Maldives and Sri Lanka in the coming years.
