The boat that belonged to Ahmed Mujthaba, 39, who went missing while out fishing off Haa Alifu Dhidhdhoo on 9 January, has been found; but Mujthaba still remains missing.
The police said that the small boat was discovered by a fishing boat from Ihavandhoo about 90 miles away from Ihavandhoo, and that this was reported to the police at 9:00 a.m. today.
Mujthaba’s boat was found last Wednesday, but it was reported to the police only today.
Mujthaba reportedly went fishing near Dhidhdhoo on a small boat with two others at around 5:00 p.m. on 9 January, when the boat overturned.
The other two people returned to the island, but Mujthaba refused to leave the boat behind after it capsized, said the police.
