Areca Nut Palms (Dhivehi: Fen foah ruh) planted in Male’ City during Former Prez. Nasheed’s Administration، have been cut down by vandals on Thursday early hours.
Police Media Official reported that Police received information of four Areca nut palms cut down on Majeedheemagu at 03:23 on Thursday early hours.
No suspects were arrested regarding the case yet.
Vaguthu has learned the Palms were reportedly cut using a larger curved knife by two suspects on a motorbike. The cut-down Palm trees were in front of Prosecutor General’s Office، Thalassemia Centre and Male’ City Council Secretariat.
The palms were planted during Former Prez. Nasheed’s Administration by Male’ City Council from a donation by Indian Government. Few palms were reportedly ‘removed’ during previous Political unrest in Male’ City.
