Finance Minister visits islands of Vaavu atoll as a special representative of the President

Finance Minister Ahmed Munawwar is currently visiting islands of Vaavu Atoll as a special representative of President Yameen.
So far the minister has visited Fulidhoo, Felidhoo and Thinadhoo. The minister has met with the council, citizens and NGOs of the islands. Vaavu atoll is the smallest and the least populated island of Maldives.
However since the atoll has many beautiful islands, it has huge potential to develop tourism. There are some resorts in the atoll and some guest houses in the inhabited islands as well.
President Yameen stated that there will be difficulties in developing small islands, but promised to provide basic services in all the islands without any discrimination.
Previous there were talks to dredge a lagoon in Vaavu atoll to make an artificial island to relocate everyone from the atoll. However, lately talks of relocation to Hulhumale’ has been discussed. So far the government has not announced any such official relocation policies.
