Case seeking to delay Parliamentary Election filed to Supreme Court

A case seeking to delay the Parliamentary Election, scheduled for Saturday, has been filed to Supreme Court.
The case was filed by Jumhooree Party (JP) Youth Wing President Moosa Anwar.
Anwar told Sun Online that he had requested Supreme Court to delay the Parliamentary Election until Elections Commission (EC) has five members, as required by Article 168 of the Constitution.
He said that he had also requested the court to rule that Parliament Speaker Abdulla Shahid and Deputy Speaker Ahmed Nazim have been disqualified as members of parliament, since they had challenged the Supreme Court ruling whereby it removed EC President and Vice President of from their posts.
Anwar’s first case requesting to delay the Parliamentary Election, filed yesterday, was rejected by Supreme Court.
Supreme Court has not yet announced if his case filed this afternoon has been accepted.
