Judges presiding over Nasheed's trial boycott committee
The committee meeting held this morning over the matter was held behind closed doors. A committee member revealed that they had been informed that the Judges were not coming at the very last moment. The three Judges were also summoned previously by the committee to inquire about the Commission of National Inquiry (CNI) report of the transfer of power on February 7, to which they had not appeared. At the time, the Judicial Services Commission (JSC) and Supreme Court had stated that it was unconstitutional for various entities to hold Judges accountable. It further added that the JSC is obligated to look in to matters related to Judges and to hold them accountable. The statement by JSC also stated that it was the sole authority of the commission and that no other body has the mandate to probe into the affairs of the Judges.
