Maldives to showcase in ITB Berlin 2026 with revival of iconic events

Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) is set to make a high-impact return to ITB Berlin 2026, scheduled from 3 to 5 March at Messe Berlin, as part of its global tourism promotion strategy.
The participation forms part of the build-up to Visit Maldives Year 2027, with an expanded national presence that includes the revival of the Maldivian Night and a high-level international press conference.
The Maldivian Night, co-hosted with the Bank of Maldives (BML), will bring together international tour operators, airline executives, media representatives and travel trade stakeholders. The event will also serve as a platform to introduce BML Swipe, a digital payment solution aimed at enhancing transaction convenience for visitors across the Maldives.
VMC will also host an international press conference at ITB Berlin, where a major strategic tourism initiative is expected to be unveiled. Officials describe the announcement as part of a broader long-term vision focused on sustainability, innovation and global competitiveness.
Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of VMC, Ibrahim Shiuree, stated that ITB Berlin remains a cornerstone of the Maldives’ global marketing efforts. He noted that the revival of the Maldivian Night and the planned press conference reflect renewed ambition in promoting the destination.
The Maldives’ national pavilion will operate under the brand message “Maldives… The Sunny Side of Life,” featuring participation from resorts, airlines, travel agencies and sustainability-focused enterprises. The pavilion will facilitate business-to-business networking and market development initiatives.
Germany, Switzerland and Austria remain key European source markets. In 2025, Germany contributed 167,822 visitors to the Maldives, ranking among the top arrival markets.
Through its enhanced engagement at ITB Berlin, VMC aims to reinforce the Maldives’ reputation as a safe, sustainable and premium tourism destination in preparation for Visit Maldives Year 2027.
