New China Envoy Commits Support for Maldives’ Urgent Needs

Newly appointed Ambassador of China to the Maldives, Kong Xianhua, presented his Letters of Credence to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on Monday.
The Ambassador was escorted to the President’s Office from Republic Square in a cultural procession “Haiykolhu” accompanied by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band.
Following the presentation of his credentials, the President welcomed the Ambassador to the Maldives and discussed matters of mutual interest.
The Ambassador assured President Dr Muizzu of the Government of China's support for the Maldives' urgent needs, highlighting the strong ties and the special significance the Maldives holds for the President of China, Xi Jinping.
Diplomatic Relations between Maldives and China were established on 14 October 1972.
