The Maldives has recorded an increase of nine percent in the number of Chinese tourists visiting the country.
According to Tourism Ministry statistics, 65,896 tourists visited the Maldives from China as of this Sunday. Last year, 60,243 tourists visited the country during the same period.
In addition to China, the number of tourists visiting from Russia, Italy, the UK, Germany, France and Switzerland, which are among the top 10 source markets for Maldives’ tourism, also increased. However, the visitors from India, the United States and Poland declined.
There are currently 175 resorts and 834 guesthouses operating in the Maldives. Additionally, 157 safari vessels and 15 hotels are also operated as tourism facilities. The total number of tourist beds offered by these facilities is 62,525.
