Finance Minsiter Ahmed Munawwar has said that, all funding required to build the new passenger terminal at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport which will be able to accommodate 7 million passengers has been secured.
Speaking to Miadhu News, Finance Minister said that they have secured funding and then the next step is to sign the agreements. In addition to the 100-million-dollar loan given by Saudi Fund, the Kuwait Fund has also given a 50-million-dollar loan. Both the agreements have now been signed.
Minister Munawwar said that the aim of the government is to complete the second runway and the new terminal of the airport by 2018.
The terminal development project is contracted to Bin Laadin group, the biggest construction group of Saudi Arabiya. The runway project is contracted to a Chinese company.
