Dollar rates in the Maldives are at an all-time high due to the long Eid holidays this year. Price of one USD in Maldives is RF 17.10 testerday and today. Some people have said that they have bought for RF 17.25 even.
People are saying that this happened because dollars are not available at the banks since they are closed in this holiday period.
Lately the price of dollars in the black market is RF 16.50 and sometimes it goes up to RF 16.75 as well.
Bank of Maldives was selling dollars to extra 200 people every day because a lot of more people travel abroad during Eid holidays. In addition, BML recently increased the amount that can be spent via BML visa cards abroad. Also they increased the cash withdrawal limits of their cards as well.
