Jumhooree Party has called the Elections Commission to treat all political parties equally.
Party’s Secretary General, Ahmed Sameer told Jumhooree Party that more than 500 membership forms were submitted to the Elections Commission yesterday. He said that these forms were submitted after checking each and every form.
“There are still more forms. We are checking them now. We will check them as much as we can. We will ensure the validity of those forms before submitting,” he said.
While the Elections Commission has not processed many forms submitted by the Jumhooree Party earlier, the party submitted 1000 forms recently.
Sameer said that the commission is slow in processing the forms and most of the time they always come up with more problems.
“We always get the list of members who changed parties. However the list of the increase in membership is always in a problem. The list of people who are removed from the party registry is sent because other party forms are processed. Therefore, we are requesting to process our forms as well,” he said.
Sameer said that the Elections Commission’s attorneys themselves agreed that the Jumhooree Party was unfairly fined nine times. He said that the Elections Commission still have not decided on the matter.
“Therefore questions are raised. We are concerned. We are in doubt whether we will get justice,” he said.
Sameer expressed hopes that these problems will be resolved once the commission has five members.
