MVR 678,000 in proceeds from Dhiraagu Road Race donated to 13 NGOs

Dhiraagu has donated MVR 678,000 in proceeds from this year’s Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race (DMRR) to 13 NGOs to assist in their efforts to protect children.
Speaking at the prize and donation handover event for DMRR 2025, Dhiraagu’s Senior Manager of Corporate Social Responsibility said the event’s theme, ‘Help Protect Children’, reflects the company’s long-standing dedication to supporting children.
“This year, we partnered with 13 NGOs dedicated to the protection, inclusion, and support of children. DMRR is more than a run-it’s a celebration of purpose and community. Our commitment also extends to caring for the environment. Powered by renewable energy with 100% of electricity use offset, this year’s event also reinforces how technology and sustainability can make large-scale events both exciting and environmentally responsible,” the official said.
During registration for DMRR 2025, participants were invited to nominate an NGO of their choice. A special grant of MVR 200,000 from Dhiraagu was shared among the five NGOs receiving the highest number of nominations.
In addition to this special grant, each of the 13 partner NGOs received proceeds from the event — including MVR 100 from every runner’s registration fee and funds raised through special bib number sales — amounting to MVR 478,800. Altogether, MVR 678,800 was contributed to the partner NGOs this year, supporting them in launching their programs and advancing their vital efforts to protect children across the country.
The five NGOs with the highest number of nominations, each receiving MVR 76,831, are:
Cancer Society of Maldives
Tiny Hearts of Maldives
Maldives Autism Association
Maldives Thalassaemia Society
Advocating the Rights of Children (ARC)
The other endorsed partner NGOs of DMRR 2025, each receiving MVR 36,831, are:
Child Abuse Prevention Society (C.A.P.S)
Blind and Visually Impaired Society of Maldives (BVISM)
Care Society
Moms Aid
Society for Health Education (SHE)
The Wheelchair Association of Maldives (WAM)
Diabetes Society of Maldives

The race, which includes both local and international athletes, is the country’s first and only international run listed in the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) World Running calendar. It features a World Athletics-certified route.
