The Maldives’ Foreign Minister, Dr Abdulla Khaleel has sent a message of congratulations to Sri Lanka on its 78th Independence Day.
In a letter addressed to Sri Lanka’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, H. M. Vijitha Herath, Dr Khaleel extended warm greetings and best wishes to the government and people of Sri Lanka as they mark the national anniversary.
He said Sri Lanka holds a special place in the hearts of the Maldivian people, highlighting the long-standing historical ties and close friendship between the two neighbouring countries. The Maldivian Foreign Minister also expressed appreciation for Sri Lanka’s continued contribution to the Maldives, particularly in the areas of education, healthcare, tourism and workforce development.
Dr Khaleel reaffirmed his confidence that the strong spirit of friendship and goodwill between the two nations would open new avenues for cooperation and partnership. He also conveyed his commitment to working closely with Minister Herath to further strengthen bilateral relations.
The message concluded with best wishes for Minister Herath’s health and well-being, and for the continued peace, progress and prosperity of the people of Sri Lanka.
