Maldives condemns destruction of UNRWA buildings in Jerusalem

The Government of the Republic of Maldives has strongly condemned the demolition of buildings belonging to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood of occupied East Jerusalem.
In a statement, the government said such actions constitute a clear violation of international law, undermine the work of the United Nations and humanitarian agencies, and further worsen the already dire humanitarian situation faced by the Palestinian people.
The statement also noted that the demolitions are in contravention of rulings issued by the International Court of Justice.
The Government of Maldives reaffirmed its unwavering support for UNRWA and its crucial humanitarian role in providing essential assistance and protection to the Palestinian people.
The Maldives further reiterated its call on the international community to fulfil its obligations and take concrete measures to hold Israel accountable for its continued violations of international law.
