His Excellency President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu hosted a state banquet in honour of His Excellency Anura Kumara Dissanayake, President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, during the latter’s state visit to the Maldives.
The banquet was attended by dignitaries including Special Envoy Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Vijitha Herath, Acting Sri Lankan High Commissioner Ms. Thimuthu Dissanayake, senior Maldivian government officials, and members of the Sri Lankan delegation.
President Dissanayake arrived in the Maldives this morning at the invitation of President Muizzu. This marks his first state visit to the Maldives since assuming office in September 2024.
The visit coincides with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Sri Lanka, established in 1965, celebrating six decades of strong bilateral ties.
