Maldives unable to host WCQ against China next month

FAM explained that since restoration of the turf will take two months, the upcoming match would be played in China as their home match, while next year March’s match in China will be held in Malé instead. If China does not concede to these changes, the match will take place in a neutral stadium. In such a situation, FAM will be looking to Sri Lanka, Qatar or Dubai. As a result of the damages sustained by the turf due to the tarp protector placed over it during the Independence 50 events, the Ooredoo Dhivehi Premier League has also been postponed to October. According to FAM, the National Stadium’s turf has been analysed by an expert from Qatar, and is currently being looked after as per his instructions. He had estimated that the turf would be restored to acceptable levels within two months, said FAM.
