Ibrahim NasirInternational Airport, Maldives-12thApril 2016–Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL) marks the 50th Anniversary of Ibrahim Nasir International Airport on 12th April 2016. With its humble beginning on 12th April 1966 as Hulhule Airport, Ibrahim Nasir International Airport has made great achievements throughout its history. To mark the occasion, series of events by the staff of MACL were held to celebrate the airport’s golden jubilee.
The day started with an official flag hoisting ceremony at 0600hrs. Home Minister Mr. Umar Naseer graced the occasion as the chief guest. The MD of MACL Mr. Adil Moosa and the Home Minister did the honors. On the occasion of the 50th Anniversary Celebrations the MD of MACL awarded a special plaque to the Minister. The ceremony was attended by senior staff of MACL
On the occasion of 50th Anniversary Celebrations of INIA, MACL under the company’s CSR activities donated a computer lab to the national orphanage center “KudakudhingeHiyaa” at Hulhumale’. The donation includes installment and maintenance of a 15 system computer lab as well as the required furniture. In a special ceremony to donate the computer lab, the first lady Madam Fathmath Ibrahim was invited as the chief guest. The ceremony was attended by Gender and Law Minister Uz. Mohamed Anil along with senior officials from the Ministry as well as the CEO of KudakudhingeHiyaa. Special plaques were gifted to Madam Fathimath Ibrahimand to the Minister of Law and Gender. Senior officials from MACL also attended the ceremony.
To celebrate the 50th Anniversary Celebrations of INIA, a special staff evening was held at INIA’s departure terminal area. Finance Minister Mr. Abdulla Jihad was invited as the chief guest of the event. The Minister along with MACL MD officially opened INIA’s history board and a model of the future airport was also officially displayed. Aspecial 50 foot Anniversary cake was cutby 50 members of MACL along with the Finance Minister, MACL MD andMACL Board of Directors. On the occasion of 50th Anniversary Celebrations the MD of MACL awarded a special plaque to the Finance Minister. Along with refreshments the traditional “Boduberu” dance brought extra jubilation to the staff as well as to the airport stakeholders. Each staff of MACL was awarded with a special plaque as part of the celebrations.The official 50th Anniversary function of INIA will be held on 15th May 2016.
