The United States of America on Sunday welcomed the Supreme Court's verdict against the annulment of the recently held Presidential Election.
Robert Hilton, the Chargés d'affaires ad interim at the US Embassy in Colombo, Sri Lanka, made the declaration in a tweet.
He stated that the US welcomed the top court's ruling, and that they looked forward to working with President-Elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's government.

Hilton is currently heading the affairs at the US Embassy after the departure of the former US Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, Atul Keshap, last July. Keshap's successor, Alaina Teplitz, is yet to assume official duties as the new envoy.
The Supreme Court ruled earlier on Sunday that there were no grounds to annul the election held September 23, in the constitutional case filed by outgoing President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, in which he claimed the election had been rigged and sought to cancel the results.
