During the committee meeting today, most members had noted that the Finance Ministry has withheld funds of State institutions. In that regard, members highlighted MVR31 million allocated for bills of Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) had been held back by the Ministry. Hence, the Finance Minister needs to be questioned over such matters and the current budget management also needed to be cleared, some members noted. The members further stressed that the Finance Minister must be questioned over the issues with the budget before it is submitted to the Parliament for next year. Despite the decision to summon the Finance Minister, a date for which had not been fixed.
