Maldives gender minister Zenysha Shaheed Zaki has visited state-run care homes for the elderly and children centers in Malaysia.
She had visited a center for children requiring special protection, a detention center used for the rehabilitation of young offenders as well as an activities center for the elderly. During her visits, the minister held talks with senior officials of the institutions she was visiting, inquiring about the various programs held at the centers.
She also discussed about the experiences required to run such centers effectively.
The purpose of the Minister's visit was to attend a joint initiative by the Malaysian Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development along with UNESCO called the Asia Pacific Ministerial Forum of the Management of Social Transformation.
