Committee passes the amendment that will allow the minister to appoint PS

The Parliament committee for independent institutions has passed the amendment that will give the minister the authority to appoint Permanent secretaries. Previously permanent secretaries were appointed by the Civil Service Commission.
The amendment was passed with the unanimous vote of all members present at the committee meeting. The amendment says that permanent secretaries should work with the instruction of the minister and should help the minister in achieving government policies.
The bill was presented to the parliament by Dhihdhoo MP Abdul Latheef. He said that the purpose of the bill is to make ministries more efficient.
