Europe accounts for nearly 59 percent of tourist arrivals to the Maldives

More than 1.1 million European tourists have visited the Maldives so far this year, cementing Europe’s position as one of the country’s dominant source market, according to figures released by the Ministry of Tourism and Environment.
Official data shows that over two million international visitors had arrived in the Maldives by the end of October. Of that total, European travellers accounted for nearly 59 percent, underscoring the region’s continued importance to the nation’s tourism-led economy.
Russia emerged as the single largest European market, contributing more than 253,000 arrivals. The United Kingdom followed with 181,301 visitors, while Germany ranked third, sending 152,739 tourists to the island nation.
The figures also point to strong year-on-year growth. Compared to the same period last year, arrivals from Europe have increased by 10.6 percent, reflecting sustained demand for the Maldives. These figures consolidated the Maldives’ status as one of the world’s most sought-after luxury and wellness destinations.
