The Maldives Broadcasting Commission has signed a landmark agreement with China’s National Radio and Television during the ongoing “Television Festival” in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, aimed at enhancing collaboration in the broadcasting and audiovisual sectors.
Broadcasting Commission President Safa Shareef signed the agreement on behalf of the Maldives, and National Radio and Television Minister Shuai Shomin representing China.
Under the agreement, both countries will cooperate on broadcasting and audiovisual operations, exchange regulatory policies, explore historical and cultural research, and support the production of various audiovisual content, including TV series, animations, and documentaries.
The partnership also includes assistance for broadcasters and new media stations, support for online audiovisual technology, and industry development. Training programs focusing on artificial intelligence, media management, technology, and content creation are planned to tackle emerging challenges in the media sector.
