Dr. Ahmed Shakeeb who was recently selected to be a part of FIFA accumulated squad of medical experts to research injuries received by players during game-time، leaves for the Medical Study Group conference.
Before heading off to Zurich، Switzerland، Dr. Shakeeb spoke with local media، stating the conference will address on the medical research involved with injuries received by players on field. He is selected as one of the co-orthodontist of the team as well.
In addition to this، Shakeeb also states that a certain period of time is required for a sports physician to be selected to the team، which has been researching the medical injuries received by players during play-offs، for 18 years and on-going.
According to Shakeeb، he received the opportunity due to his years of practice as a senior physician at the Maldives national football team، while mentioning the team consists of various orthodontists from across the globe as well.
The medical research team will carry out their research procedures on various cardiac arrest incidents occurred during game play، that has led to the death of notable football players. The research، titled “Sudden cardiac death prevention and other death in sports” will be conference based with specialists around the world gathering to assess and underline the factors leading to the said consequences.
Dr. Shakeeb is slated to participate in this research meeting، while he will also be partaking in the “F-Mark group” meetings.
Dr. Ahmed Shakeeb has been the official physician of Maldives national football team since 1997، and over the past 17 years he had taken part in every FIFA and AFC based medical courses.
