Council member of V. Rakidhoo, Abdulla Rasheed has said that the Gender Ministry did not allow the participation of the counsel during the visit of the delegates of the Gender Ministry to the island, V. Rakidhoo.
Speaking to Miadhu Daily, Abdulla Rasheed said that the ministry met with the 27 year old mother of the child.
“However we do not know the details. From what we hear, the mother claims she did not mistreat or abuse her child,” he said.
Abdulla Rasheed said that the victim was a very well behaved child therefore the child did not use to cry too much. “It is for this reason people did not knew to take action then. And the doors of that house is always locked,” he said.
Abdulla Rasheed said that the victim was born out of wedlock and the mother has two other children after getting married.
