Fisheries Minister Dr. Mohamed Shainee has said that the Government will seek foreign assistance in including opposition MDP and Adhaalath Party in the all-party talks.
Speaking to press in the President’s Office, Dr. Shainee said that MDP had formally responded that they will not take part in the talks and that Adhaalath was yet to announce a decision.
He added that all the four parties that had taken part in today’s discussions noted that resolutions cannot be found for issues without the participation of MDP and AP. As such, Dr. Shainee said that the parties had agreed to hold off the planned talks for today to give the two parties an opportunity to attend the talks.
Dr. Shainee stressed that the Government had not created an environment that barred former President Mohamed Nasheed from returning back home, adding that the Government wished to see him back in the country.
Dr. Shainee said that a date for the next round of talks had not been agreed upon, as the Government will be seeking to bring MDP and AP into the talks.
