Media Fenda dissolved due to non-compliance with guideline

The Media Fenda has been dissolved effective today, following repeated non-compliance with established guidelines. The decision was announced in Press Statement No. 2025-001 issued by the President’s Office.
Established on 29 May 2025 as part of the President’s Office, the Media Fenda was intended to strengthen engagement between the media and Government institutions by providing journalists with timely access to information and facilitating coverage of events and news from the area. The Press Statement noted that the facility had not, to date, been utilised in accordance with the prescribed regulations.
Under the guidelines, journalists nominated by local media outlets were granted Official Passes to access the Media Fenda. However, individuals without Official Passes gained entry while posing as journalists and repeatedly breached the rules. In addition, several accredited journalists raised concerns about difficulties in gathering news and information from the area.
The Press Statement further highlighted that continued breaches of public safety regulations and disruptions to individuals visiting Government offices in the Green Zone contributed to the decision. It added that unauthorised entry, obstruction of news collection, and violations of Green Zone regulations constituted breaches of specific provisions governing the use of the Media Fenda.
Despite its dissolution, the President’s Office reaffirmed that both the Office and other Government institutions remain fully accessible to journalists for news coverage.
