A 21-year-old man has been arrested from the Maldivian capital with over half a kilo of drugs and over MVR 100,000 in cash under the police counter-narcotics operation - Operation Alimagu.
Ali Mufaaviz, 21, Hafula, L. Hithadhoo, was arrested from Male’ on Saturday in an operation conducted by the Drug Enforcement based on intel received by the Gang Crime Suppression.
He is suspected of being involved in the use, possession and peddling of drugs.
During a raid on his apartment in Male’, the police recovered 614 grams of drugs and over MVR 125,000 in cash.
The Criminal Court remanded him in custody of the police for five days.
The case is under further investigation by the police.
The latest arrest comes after a 22-year-old man was arrested from the SIFCO flats in Hulhumale’ on Monday with half a kilo of drugs under Operation Alimagu.
Some 100 suspects have been arrested in the operation so far.
