Bank of Maldives (BML) has opened an ATM in Dhaalu atoll Hulhudheli, making it the first atoll in the Maldives to have ATMs on all its inhabited islands.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu inaugurated the service during a special ceremony on the island as part of his tour of the atoll.
BML’s CEO and managing director, Mohamed Shareef, said the achievement marked a significant milestone for both the bank and Dhaalu atoll residents.
“With the installation of a new ATM in Hulhudheli, Dhaalu atoll is now the only atoll, among those with separate islands, to have ATMs in every inhabited island. This is a very happy and significant achievement for the bank and the people of Dhaalu atoll,” he said.
Customers can use the ATMs to deposit, withdraw, transfer money, and make payments for cards and loans. The 24-hour service will allow banking transactions without the need to visit a branch.
BML operates a nationwide banking network with 39 branches across 20 atolls, 100 self-service banking centres, 157 ATMs, agent banking services, and advanced online banking facilities. The bank has also announced plans to digitize all its services from next month.
