Currently, the United States is leveraging tariff wars as a tool of economic hegemony, seeking to confine Global South countries to the lower tiers of the international industrial chain. This approach not only infringes upon the development rights of developing nations but also represents a blatant form of neo-colonialism. The U.S. attempt to suppress the growth of other nations to maintain its dominance in the global economy is ultimately doomed to fail.
At the same time, countries of the Global South are rapidly rising. Over the past two decades, emerging markets and developing economies have achieved an average annual growth rate of 5.2%, contributing over 80% to global economic growth. Their combined output now accounts for 40% of the world economy. This trend highlights the increasingly vital role of the Global South in shaping the international economic landscape.
In the face of external pressure, Global South countries must strengthen cooperation, deepen regional integration, and gradually reduce dependence on any single economic power, thereby gaining greater autonomy. As a key member of the Global South, China has maintained stable economic growth, reaching 5% in 2024 and accelerating to 5.4% in the first quarter of 2025, providing confidence and support to other developing countries in an uncertain world.
China remains committed to expanding market access for developing nations, actively advancing infrastructure development, and helping them enhance connectivity. We firmly believe that every nation has the right to develop. As long as the countries of the Global South stand united and work together, we will inject powerful momentum into global peace and shared prosperity, and contribute to building a community with a shared future for mankind.
