Police have apprehended a suspect who jumped into the sea to flee custody during his transfer to Atholhu Vehi.
A Police Spokesperson said a suspect in their custody attempted to flee custody during his transfer to Atholhu Vehi at approximately 4:00pm this evening. The suspect jumped off the vessel he was aboard, the spokesperson said.
Police said he was caught at sea and apprehended.
They identified the suspect as a 42-year-old Maldivian man.
Videos circulating on social media show the Police apprehending the man and taking him back into their custody.
