First Lady Marks Writers' Day With Tribute to Literary Sacrifice

First Lady Sajidha Mohamed, in a social media message shared on 8 July, commemorated National Writers' Day by acknowledging the essential role writers play in preserving the nation’s character and ensuring its continued existence. She described their efforts as sacrifices made in service of Maldivian identity.
“Every drop of ink from the pens of Maldivian writers represents a sacrifice made for the enduring existence of our nation and the preservation of Maldivian identity,” the First Lady stated, extending her greetings to writers across the country.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu also recognised the occasion, expressing his well-wishes to the nation's literary community. National Writers' Day is observed annually on 8 July to honour the contributions of Maldivian writers to national progress.
