Ministry Announces Photo Competition for 2026 Calendar

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has launched a photo competition titled “Calendar Photo Competition 2025” to source photographs for their upcoming 2026 calendar. The competition aims to select 13 outstanding photographs that will be featured in the ministry’s calendar for the coming year.
Open to participants of all age groups, the competition requires each contestant to submit a minimum of three photographs and a maximum of five. The photographs can showcase mosques from various islands across the Maldives, including interior shots, exterior views, and aerial perspectives.
The ministry has established strict guidelines for the submissions, specifically prohibiting images containing Allah’s names, references to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), or Quranic verses. This ensures compliance with Islamic principles while capturing the architectural beauty of the nation’s mosques.
Successful photographers will receive substantial monetary rewards for their work. Twelve selected photographs will each receive a prize of MVR 2,500, while the photograph chosen for the calendar’s cover will be awarded MVR 1,500. The judging panel will evaluate entries based on creativity, technical quality, artistic merit, and adherence to competition requirements.
To participate in the competition, photographers must submit their entries through a dedicated online portal at https://shorturl.at/vmPqa. Each submission must be accompanied by the photographer’s ID card copy, and every photograph must include detailed information about the location, mosque name, and a brief description of the image.
This initiative by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs not only provides a platform for photographers to showcase their talent but also helps document and celebrate the diverse Islamic architecture across the Maldives through professional photography.
