Sea ambulance service between Male’ and Vilimale’ commences

The Maldives Government, through Dharumavantha Hospital, has launched sea ambulance service between Male’ and Vilimale’.
The agreement for the service was signed between the Minister of Health Dr. Abdulla Khaleel and CEO of Dharumavantha Hospital Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem, on behalf of the Male’ City Group of Hospitals.
The Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Mohamed Ameen was present at the inauguration ceremony to present the commemorative key for the sea ambulance.
Currently, Vilimale’ health center provides a 24-hour services with a five-bed emergency room and three inpatient rooms. The hospital currently caters limited number of services and does not feature an operation theater.
Specialist doctors from IGMH usually have to travel to Vilimale’ health center to treat patients in need of specialist treatment. Patients requiring emergency treatment need to be transported to IGMH, but sea ambulances never operated in the area for emergency services previously.
