Agreements Signed to Partner with Three Companies for Road Safety Campaign

Agreements have been signed with three companies to conduct a road safety campaign, the ‘Rakkaa Campaign’ in partnership with Maldives Police Service (MPS).
The agreement was signed with Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) Plc, Ooredoo Maldives Plc, and Allied Insurance Company of the Maldives Pvt Ltd at a ceremony held at Iskander Building on Tuesday.
At the ceremony, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ismail Naveen signed the agreement on behalf of Maldives Police Service. MTCC was represented by its Managing Director, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Retd) Ahmed Saudi.
Ooredoo Maldives was represented by its Commercial Officer of Maldives Hussain Niyaz, while Executive Director Nasrath Mohamed signed on behalf of Allied Insurance.
Speaking to PSM News, Maldives Police Service said a roadshow titled ‘Rakkaa’ will be held in two regions across the Maldives this year, as part of the campaign. While the first event will be held in the Shaviyani Atoll area starting from 17 June, the second show will be held in Villingili of Gaafu Alifu Atoll and rest of the Atoll later this year.
The campaign will also feature nationwide road safety awareness programmes. These include the Traffic Monitors Programmes, the ‘Fahi Raasthaa’ programme, a programme aimed at taxi drivers, smaller roadshows across various islands, and special sessions for taxi drivers.
First launched in 2014, the Rakkaa Campaign has been implemented in Male’ and the atolls by the Maldives Police Service to raise public awareness on road safety and security.
