Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed says 29 businesses suspected of being illegally operated by foreign nationals were reported within just 41 hours of launching a public reporting channel.
The Ministry opened the hotline on Thursday, urging the public to report cases where foreigners are believed to be running businesses unlawfully.
Saeed said the reports came both from citizens and government agencies, and that each case will be investigated before action is taken. He noted that a national task force appointed by the President will begin inspections this afternoon to review the reported establishments and enforce the law as required.
The Minister thanked the public for their cooperation in helping authorities identify illegal business operations.
