A permanent solution will be brought to the three largest social issues facing the Maldives, stated President Dr Mohamed Muizzu. These remarks were delivered on Sunday during the official ceremony commemorating the 61st Independence Day. The most severe social challenges currently confronting the nation comprise the proliferation of narcotics, gang-related offences, and the presence of undocumented migrant workers residing unlawfully, he noted.
Upon assuming leadership of the government, the state of affairs in the country was far from optimal, the president observed. This precarious situation reflects the trajectory the nation has endured for many eras, during which crises involving narcotics, gang violence, and undocumented migrant workers escalated to extreme proportions, he stated.
While no meaningful efforts yielding tangible results had previously been undertaken to resolve these systemic matters, the administration will deliver definitive outcomes for these challenges, President Muizzu affirmed. Adequate solutions to these problems are already materialising as a direct result of amendments introduced to national laws and regulations, he pointed out.
"We altered the domestic policy of this administration to bring a genuine solution to these issues," President Muizzu maintained, adding that tangible results are being achieved in solving these major issues within the country.
These social policies will be implemented with unwavering resolve, the president declared. Through collaborative efforts, a permanent solution will be achieved, he added. Resolving such entrenched challenges remains essential for citizens to experience true independence.
