The Government of Maldives has issued a strong condemnation following reports of a deadly attack carried out by Israel in parts of Lebanon on 8 April 2026, which is said to have resulted in the deaths of hundreds of people and left thousands more injured.
In an official statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maldives government described the incident as a “heinous attack”, warning that such actions risk undermining ongoing international efforts aimed at securing lasting peace and stability in the region. The statement further noted that the escalation poses a serious threat to regional security, raising concerns over wider destabilisation.
The government called upon the international community to take what it described as “immediate and decisive action” to hold Israel accountable for alleged violations of international law and international humanitarian law.
Reaffirming its position, the Maldives expressed solidarity with the people and government of Lebanon, underscoring its support for efforts to safeguard the country’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.
