The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) received a total of 261 cases in 2025, an increase of 82 cases compared to 2024, statistics have shown.
According to the JSC, 137 of these cases were determined to be unrelated to the judiciary. While 54 cases are under review, 72 cases were referred for investigation.
The JSC heard 87 cases in 2025, including 72 new cases and 15 cases carried over from previous years. While a total of 18 cases were concluded, these include the referral of three judges to the Parliament for dismissal, disciplinary action against two judges, and the suspension of two judges.
By the end of 2025, a total of 204 judges were serving in Maldivian courts. Four justices were appointed to the Supreme Court, two to the High Court, and four to superior courts during the year. 24 judges were also appointed to Magistrate Courts.
